On February 1, 2005 IQS successfully earned accreditation as an ITL (Independent Test Lab). In doing so, IQS joins an elite group of other ITL’s in the United States. As an ITL, IQS is authorized to conduct NEBS testing of various telecommunications products targeted for telecommunications markets.

NEBS stands for "Network Equipment-Building System." It is a term commonly used to refer to a family of documents that apply to telecommunications equipment located in a Central Office. One of the most common standards used for testing is GR-1089-CORE, Electromagnetic Compatibility and Electrical Safety -- Generic Criteria for Network Telecommunications Equipment.

The NEBS ITL program helps expedite product-to-market cycles for telecommunications equipment vendors and creates more economical compliance testing processes.

ITLs are selected based on their interest in participating in the program, their demonstrated competence in performing such testing, their ongoing training programs and their certification in nationally recognized quality programs for laboratories.  Each lab undergoes an initial quality audit and subsequent periodic audits to assure ongoing quality
